  8. New York Times Bestselling Author Jennifer Chiaverini

    Jennifer Chiaverini is a New York Times bestselling author and quilter. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the University of Chicago, she is also a former writing instructor at Penn State and Edgewood College. She lives with her husband and two sons in Madison, Wisconsin. In addition to her bestselling historical fiction novels and the seventeen volumes of the Elm Creek Quilts series, she is the author of four volumes of quilt patterns inspired by her novels, as well as the designer of the Elm Creek Quilts fabric lines from Red Rooster Fabrics. About her historical fiction, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writes, "In addition to simply being fascinating stories, these novels go a long way in capturing the texture of life for women, rich and poor, black and white, in those perilous years."

Learn about the aquatic environments in Wisconsin and the large assortment of creatures that live here in our home state! Discover the 6 types of biomes found around the world and discover which types of animals call these places home. Children will also learn what every animal habitat needs in order to be successful! .

  22. Marine Mammals and the Deep Blue Ocean

    Join us at the Frank L. Weyenberg Library on Tuesday, March 31 at 3:00PM for a Marine Mammals and the Deep Blue Ocean session taught by Oceans of Fun from the Milwaukee County Zoo. Children will learn about the 5 characteristics of a mammal and how they relate to seals and sea lions. Children will also explore how marine mammals are different from other land mammals. Be prepared to dive deep into the ocean and learn about the different levels that comprise the ocean waters and the fascinating creatures that live there, from plankton to angler fish to the large whale shark!
