Children's Events

Family Storytimes

  • Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 10:30 AM from September 13 - December 14
  • Storytimes include stories, finger plays, and songs. A responsible adult should be present. All ages are welcome! 
  • No registration is required, but please make sure storytime etiquette is followed. 
  • Storytime Etiquette & Rules:
    • Storytime cushions will be spaced out prior to entry in the Tolzman Community Room.
    • Stamps will not be given out, but rather stickers will be provided for those that wish to have one.

Little Scientists

  • Meets the 2rd Thursday of the Month at 10:00 AM.
  • October 13, November 10, December 8
  • With their inquisitive natures and drive to explore the world around them, kids make natural scientists! At each session of Little Scientists, you and your child will get the materials you need to create simple – but fun and educational – effects. 
  • For ages 2-4 years old. 
  • Register for a session at the Children's Desk, Adult Info Desk or by calling 262-242-2593 ext. 330. 

Saturday LEGO Club

  • Build up your creativity and LEGO skills at the library! Share ideas, work together, and make new friends. Children ages 5 and up are welcome to attend. Bring a friend, no registration required! 
  • Meets in the Tolzman Community Room from 1:30-2:30 PM on select Saturdays.
  • October 15, November 12, December 10

Card Game Club for Kids

  • Select Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 PM
  • Join us for a monthly program for tweens and late elementary kids. Kids are taught a new card game every month (most using the standard 52 card deck) and then are given some time to play it. Games are meant to be fun, casual and something kids can play easily at home. For children ages 8-14.

Monday LEGO Club

  • Build up your creativity and LEGO skills at the library! Share ideas, work together, and make new friends. Children ages 5 and up are welcome to attend. Bring a friend, no registration required!  
  • Meets in the Tolzman Community Room from 4:00-5:30 PM on the last Mondays of the month.

Switch Days!

  • Meets the 4th Wednesday of the month at 4:30 PM.
  • September 28, October 26, November 23, December 28
  • Drop in, meet fellow players, and try out some multiplayer games on the library’s Nintendo Switch! For children in grades 3-6.

Shake & Shimmy Storytime

  • 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month at 9:30 AM starting in October
  • A music and movement centered storytime specifically intended for kids between the ages of 1-3 and a caregiver. The storytime would include 1-2 simple books as well as songs, dances and fingerplays that are easy for parents to take home with them.

Kids' Movie Matinees

  • No school? That means it’s movie time! Grab a seat in the Tolzman Community Room for a special showing of these movies!

Wisconsin Science Festival

  • Unlock the Box: Seasonal Sabotage - Thursday, October 13 at 2:00 PM
    • Do you love to follow clues and solve puzzles? Unlock-the-Box is an opportunity for children grades 2-5 to work as a team to beat the clock and open the box before it’s too late! This program uses BreakoutEDU to provide a fun, educational experience for all involved. Registration is required for this program as space is limited. Stop at the Children's desk or call us at 262-242-2593 ext. 330 to register.
  • Raptors in Conservation: A Schlitz Audubon Nature Center Presentation - Friday, October 14 at 2:00 PM
    • Raptor ecologists face many conservation challenges. Environmental contamination, habitat loss, and climate change have the most dramatic effect on apex predators, making raptors strong indicators of overall ecosystem health. Live birds will provide unique opportunities to explore past and present issues in conservation and highlight conservation successes. Audience members will also learn how they can help conserve raptors in their everyday lives. Graphic Novel Book Club

  • If you’re a kid who loves graphic novels, here’s a book club just for you. Just sign up to attend a session, read that month’s book beforehand, and come ready to talk about it and have fun! For kids ages 8-12.
  • October 25 at 4:30 PM = This Was Our Pact by Ryan Andrews
  • November 22 at 4:30 PM  = Twins by Varian Johnson
  • December 20 at 4:30 PM  = Katie the Catsitter by Colleen A.F. Venable

Mask Parade & Storytime

  • Monday, October 31 at 10:00 AM
  • It’s Halloween – time for little monsters to come out to play! We’ve got lots of supplies so kids can make the spooky, creepy mask of their dreams, and then show it off on a monster-tacular parade around the library. There will also be some stories and activities while we wait for the glue to dry! Registration is required and can be done at the Children's Desk or by calling us at 262-242-2593 ext. 330.
