Cultural Conversations: How to Talk About Race
Sunday, May 1, 2022
There’s more we have in common than that which divides us. Join us for frank discussions of world events, and those here at home, and how we can make a difference.
Bridge the Divide - Grassroots organization that began in 2018. We provide a forum for discussion and action around racial repair, racial reconstruction and ultimately racial reconciliation. We fund scholarships, host racially literate podcasts, educational programming, monthly newsletters, community projects, and book studies to promote lasting, cross-cultural connections. Our goal is to facilitate community conversations that launch joint, achievable, sustainable solutions, especially in the North Shore suburbs and exurbs. Mequon-Thiensville Sunrise Rotary Club awarded Bridge the Divide with the Family and Community Service Award 2020 for our efforts to build a loving, empathetic, and just community.
Erica Turner- Erica is a Registered Nurse and IT professional , she is the Executive Director of Bridge the Divide. She is an extraordinarily passionate advocate for building a world of racial justice and equity across all facets of her life, focused on forging relationships in the virtually all-white suburban community where her family lives, works, plays, and worships. She is committed to interacting with love, listening while reserving judgment, fostering healing from racial injustices, and waking up apathetic attitudes. Erica was featured in the Love Wisconsin online series and is the recipient of the Spirit of Unity Award 2018, Oz NAACP Game Changers Award 2018, SEW YWCA Eliminating Racism Award 2019, and Mequon-Thiensville Rotary Paul Harris Fellow 2020.
